INDOOR TRACK: Prep's Alvarado wins 3,200 title

NEW HAVEN -- It’s safe to say junior distance runner Christian Alvarado had a lot better experience Tuesday night at the Indoor State Open Track Meet at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.
A year ago, Fairfield Prep’s Alvarado had to drop out of the 3,200 race due to an injury. This winter, after battling back from a foot injury suffered during the cross country season, Alvarado fought off Newtown’s Jake Feinstein to capture the 3,200 title in a time of 9 minutes and 24.58 seconds to win the title.
“It’s a great feeling,” Alvarado said after the race. “This year to have almost a clean, perfect season means a lot to me.”
Alvarado will now move onto the New England Championships set for Saturday, March 2 in Boston, Mass.
